KARI MacRAE CALLS ON DYLAN FERNANDES TO JOIN HER IN SUPPORTING AUDITOR DIANA DiZOGLIO’S PROPOSAL TO AUDIT THE LEGISLATURE
“Here’s the problem: The Democrats’ One-Party Party on Beacon Hill Never Includes an Invitation for the Taxpayers Footing the Bill”
BOURNE, MA – Kari MacRae, the 2022 Republican nominee for State Senate in the Plymouth and Barnstable District and candidate for the open Senate seat in 2024, today called for Dylan Fernandes, her Democrat opponent, to join her in calling for State Auditor Diana DiZoglio to audit the Legislature.
“Auditor DiZoglio, a Democrat, has a great idea” MacRae said. “She wants to audit the state Legislature and I support this idea completely. The taxpayers win when Republicans and Democrats work together to provide the people of Massachusetts with the most effective and efficient government possible.”
“I look forward to reaching across the aisle to work with Auditor DiZoglio to make her audit happen,” said MacRae. “An audit of the General Court is long, long overdue. It’s time for Dylan Fernandes to get on this issue. This shouldn’t be about politics, it’s about good government. The time has come to get this done.”
“Kudos to Auditor DiZoglio for trying to do what’s right, despite the obstruction of Attorney General Campbell and virtually every other elected Democrat” said MacRae. “I can’t wait to get to work with her to join the fight to save taxpayers’ money.”
“Unfortunately, Rep. Fernandes’ record on non-partisan, taxpayer-friendly good government legislation isn’t good,” said MacRae. “On at least two occasions Fernandes voted against auditing the House, once in 2017 and again in 2019.”
MacRae said, “Too often, Fernandes, among the most out of touch extremely woke liberals on Beacon Hill, is ‘Follow the Leader’ Fernandes instead of an independent thinker fighting for the common sense values deeply held by people in Plymouth and Barnstable County. Without much effort, I found at least 39 terrible votes against good government ideas, like an independent audit of the Legislature, greater transparency in government, thoughtful reforms in the lawmaking process, much needed term limits for the House Speaker and a truly bi-partisan Ethics Committee.”[see attached]
“People on the South Shore and Cape Cod are crying out for leadership from their elected representatives, all ‘Follow the Leader’ Fernandes offers them is more ‘do what you’re told’ protection for powerful and politically connected Democrat politicians. Back the audit now, Dylan!” said MacRae. “Here’s the problem: The Democrats have controlled the State Senate since 1958 and the Democrats’ one-party party on Beacon Hill never includes an invitation for the taxpayers footing the bill. That’s going to change when voters send me to the Senate to crash the party.”
