Is Cain Able to Scam Republican Voters?
Cain Exposed by Republican
Committee Chairwoman

Dear Fellow GOP Committee Chairs,

I am a lifelong Massachusetts Republican. I always vote for and support the Republican ticket however I can. I’ve been chair of the Arlington Republican Town Committee for a number of terms over the years.

I consider myself to be open-minded and inclusive, welcoming as many people into our party as possible. However, I feel compelled to share some troubling information about our party’s newest Senate candidate, Ian Cain. There’s quite a bit here, so I will try to keep it to a few quick facts that I’ve discovered. Feel free to contact me for the original source:

  1. Cain endorsed (michelleforboston.com/endorsements) disastrous Michelle Wu for mayor of Boston, calling her an “ally” and saying she has a “rare blend of intellect, authenticity, and integrity.”
  2. Cain endorsed weak-on-immigration Maura Healey for governor, citing her “strong leadership and integrity.”
  3. Cain has donated thousands of dollars to Democrats over the past 14 years, including as recently as the last election cycle. Some of his notable donations include Democrats Kim Driscoll, Andrea Campbell, Stephen Lynch, Joe Kennedy, Setti Warren, Chris Dempsey, Bill Driscoll, as well as the MA Democrat Party.
  4. Cain registered as a Republican right before announcing his own candidacy, even though he was a registered Democrat for years.
  5. Cain used the Democrats’ donation software “ActBlue” for his campaigns, and has only temporarily suspended the page, in case he wants to run again as a Democrat.
  6. Ian Cain is listed as a Democrat on the Quincy Democrats’ own list of elected officials.
  7. Cain was considering running for Congress as a Democrat seven months ago, describing himself in a poll to voters as “part of the next generation of progressive Democrats who can be counted on to pass universal healthcare [and] the Green New Deal.”
  8. Cain appeared in a Joe Kennedy campaign ad.
  9. Cain previously worked for Democrat Congressman Stephen Lynch, twice.
  10. Cain cozies up with Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren, calling it an “honor” and a “pleasure” to be in their presence.
  11. Cain voted in the 2016 and 2020 Democrat presidential primaries. He also voted in the 2022, 2020, 2018, and 2016 Democrat primaries for state and federal offices (according to the Quincy Election’s Department).

Perhaps the most troubling of this fact pattern is the timeline. Seven months ago, Cain was testing the waters for a congressional bid, billing himself as “part of the next generation of progressive Democrats who can be counted on to pass universal healthcare [and] the Green New Deal.” He proudly and openly supported our opposition in the last election cycle. At a minimum, he has supported Massachusetts Democrats in 2023 (Robert Orthman), 2022 (Maura Healey, Kim Driscoll, and Andrea Campbell), 2021 (Michelle Wu), 2019 (Bill Driscoll), 2018 (Setti Warren, Joe Kennedy), 2016 (Joe Kennedy), and 2010 (Stephen Lynch). This is political opportunism at its worst.

If Cain visits your committee, please ask him why he supported the Democrat ticket in 2022, why he consistently donates to Democrats, why he’s worked for Democrats, why he uses Democrats’ fundraising platforms such as ActBlue, who he voted for in the 2016 and 2020 presidential primaries, and why he caucused with the Quincy City Democrats. We, as actual Republicans, deserve answers.
