Rep. Matt Gaetz led the charge to kick useless Democrat-enabling Mitt-Romney-style former speaker of the house Kevin McCarthy out of the speaker’s position.
McCarthy attempted to take revenge on Gaetz, backing Aaron Dimmock in a primary against Gaetz. And, more than $3 million from a McCarthy-linked super PAC supported Dimmock. In the end, Gaetz won.
“Kevin McCarthy spent $3 million dollars in this race, not attacking my votes or my work on your behalf, but just simply trying to attack my character,” Gaetz said in his victory speech.
“Two years ago, I got 70% of the vote. And tonight, it looks like we’re getting 73% of the vote! So Kevin, if you’re watching, spend a little more next time and we’ll get to 80!”
McCarthy would fit right in with the current Mass GOP leadership.
