BOURNE, Mass. – Kari MacRae, the 2022 Republican nominee for State Senate in the Plymouth and Barnstable District and the only Republican candidate for the open Senate seat in 2024 to endorse President Donald Trump, last week won a straw poll in the Plymouth and Barnstable Senate District race by a 79% to 21% margin over State Representative Mathew Muratore, a self-described moderate Republican.
The straw poll was conducted jointly by the Bourne Republican Town Committee, the Falmouth Republican Town Committee, the Sandwich Republican Town Committee and the Cape Cod Concerned Citizens after a candidates forum between the two candidates competing for the Republican nomination for State Senate.
“I was happy to participate in the State Senate candidates forum a week ago,” said MacRae. “It’s always fun to discuss policy with my opponent, State Rep. Matt Muratore, and take questions from my friends and neighbors in Barnstable County.”
“What I’ve found during this campaign is Republican primary voters appreciate that I am unapologetically conservative, proudly support President Trump, steadfastly support and defend the 2nd Amendment, will work tirelessly to stop the migrant crisis and will always fight for the working people of the eight towns in my district,” said MacRae.
“The folks hosting the forum had a straw poll after the event,” said MacRae. “I am proud to report we won the straw poll – of Republican activists in Barnstable County – by a whopping 58 points – 79% to 21%! Clearly, we’re right on the issues, we’ve got the momentum and we’re going to win the primary on September 3rd!”
