VIDEO: MASS GUN LAW REPEAL: 90,000 Plus Signatures Collected!

We Did It

90,000 Plus Signatures Collected!

Boston, MA. . .Today Toby Leary, the Chairman of Civil Rights Coalition and the effort to repeal Massachusetts Chapter (H.4885), proudly announced a monumental achievement of collecting 90,000 signatures in less than 5 weeks to suspend and repeal the law known as “An Act Modernizing Firearm Laws.”

“We did it!  We have the signatures to both suspend the law and put the issue on the 2026 ballot.  This extraordinary accomplishment demonstrates unwavering support from people of all walks of life.  In the birthplace of liberty, Massachusetts voters are still passionate about defending their civil and constitutional rights,” said Leary. “It also shows how the State House is not listening to the people they are supposed to represent.”

Despite Governor Maura Healey’s effort to derail the referendum by signing the emergency preamble last week, the Coalition’s grassroots team of over 800 volunteers was successfully able to gather 90,078 signatures from registered voters across the Commonwealth.  The Coalition expects to have even more signatures by the Wednesday deadline. To put the issue on the ballot in 2026, the Civil Rights Coalition needed to collect 37,287 signatures.

“I strongly believe that our signature drive sends a strong message to Beacon Hill that they should not wait until 2026.  They should immediately repeal this flawed law that will put hundreds of stores out of business and makes felons out of law-abiding citizens,” said Leary.

This signature drive, one of the fastest and most successful petition campaigns in recent Massachusetts history, achieved success without major financial backing or paid signature gatherers. The Coalition’s efforts stand in stark contrast to typical drives, which often take 90 days or more to gather a comparable number of signatures.

“We are overwhelmed by the level of dedication shown by our supporters.  This is just the beginning of a campaign that will empower Massachusetts voters to stand up for their rights,” added Leary. “We will not rest until the civil rights of the people are respected and this law is overturned.”
