Pardoned Pro-Life Activist Speaks at Local Rally

by Gabriel Dionisi

As a pro-life conservative, I believe that standing up for the unborn is one of the most important ways we can serve God and help our country. That’s why I started the Pro-Life Standouts group, which meets periodically to hold pro-life signs in different Massachusetts towns. On February 15th, we held a very special standout in Natick with a guest speech by Will Goodman, who was recently freed by President Trump after 17 months in federal prison!

Mr. Goodman talked about his experience in the pro-life Rescue Movement, which protests abortion through peaceful civil disobedience (such as doing “sit-ins” in abortion facilities). He explained that the name comes from Proverbs chapter 24: “Rescue those who are being taken to their death. Do not stand idly by when your neighbor is brought to slaughter.” Mr. Goodman has been arrested many times as part of his advocacy, and describes his actions as an important way to “bear witness to the dignity of these children who have no strength, have no voice.”

While Goodman has spent brief periods in jails before, things got more serious after he participated in a sit-in at a Washington, D.C. late-term abortion facility in October 2020. At first, he and the other protesters were arrested and then simply released. But after the Biden administration came in, they were raided by the FBI and aggressively prosecuted in D.C. courts. These pro-lifers, several of whom were elderly and in poor health, received multi-year sentences for their nonviolent actions.

Fortunately, when Trump returned to office he gave full pardons to the D.C. protesters and several other persecuted pro-lifers! Signing the order in the Oval Office, Trump called it “a great honor” to do so. Will Goodman described this outcome as “the fruit of everyone’s prayers,” saying “I really believe [Trump] saved the lives of my friends, especially some of the elderly ladies.”

Despite the cold weather, roughly 20 people attended the standout, most of whom were young adults! In addition to the main speech, the event also featured a Q&A session with Mr. Goodman and a public rosary prayer. After standing for an hour and a half, most of the group went to a nearby restaurant for lunch and further discussion.
