HOW CAN YOU TELL MATT MURATORE IS LOSING?
BECAUSE HE’S LYING TO GOP PRIMARY VOTERS ABOUT BEING A CONSERVATIVE

BOURNE, Mass. – Kari MacRae, the 2022 Republican nominee for State Senate in the Plymouth and Barnstable District and the only Republican candidate for the open Senate seat in 2024 to endorse President Donald Trump for re-election, today criticized State Representative Mathew Muratore, her opponent in the Republican primary, for falsely calling himself a “trusted and tested conservative for State Senate” in a direct-mail piece landing in mailboxes this morning.
“How can you tell Matt Muratore is losing?” MacRae asked. “Because he’s lying to GOP primary voters about being a conservative.”
“We’re one month away from a GOP primary election and Matt’s calling himself a ‘trusted and tested conservative,’” said MacRae. “What a joke! If the ‘trusted and tested conservative’ candidate for State Senate actually took a conservative test – he’d fail miserably.”
“Matt Muratore is emphatically not a conservative,” said MacRae. “But don’t believe me. Listen to what Muratore has said about himself – literally days ago. Muratore self-identified as a ‘moderate’ to Tao Woolfe of The Bourne Enterprise on July 17th. In the same story, Muratore also called himself a ‘Charlie Baker Republican.’ Certainly, no conservative Republican in Massachusetts would ever call former Governor Baker a conservative.”
MacRae said, “A little over seven months ago, when Muratore was beginning his campaign for State Senate, Matt told us who he really is in a news story published by the State House News Service on January 23rd. Muratore told State House News Services’ Sam Doran, ‘It’s a very purple district now [the Plymouth and Barnstable Senate District]. And I see myself as fitting that mold.’ Does that sound like a ‘trusted and tested conservative’ to anyone? I don’t think so.”
“Muratore also told The Bourne Enterprise, ‘I am not anti-migrant,’ and he voted against an amendment to cut-off state funding for sanctuary cities,” said MacRae. “Muratore is anti-2nd Amendment and he’s a Never-Trumper who served on Governor Nikki Haley’s leadership team in the GOP presidential primary.”
“I’d have more respect for Matt if he just told the truth about himself,” said MacRae. “Matt’s never been a conservative. Instead, he’s a ‘trusted and tested’ RINO who can be counted on by ultra-liberals like Representative Josh Cutler and Representative Kathy LaNatra for an endorsement and a radio ad against their great Republican challengers, Eric Meschino and Ken Sweezey. That’s what Matt Muratore, the conservative champion, did in 2022.”
MacRae concluded, “The conservative Republican voters getting ready to cast their ballots in the State Senate primary will not be fooled by Matt Muratore’s lies and misrepresentations. That is why I’ve been endorsed by the Republican Town Committees in Bourne, Sandwich, Falmouth and Pembroke – and when I win the Republican primary on September 3rd and the general election on November 5th – we will have an unapologetic conservative representing us in the State Senate.”
SPECIAL NOTE: EXCERPT FROM MURATORE’S AD WITH LaNATRA AND CUTLER
Muratore: So this November, please vote for your bipartisan South Shore team.
Cutler: Yes. That’s Cutler, LaNatra and Muratore.
LaNatra: Hey, guys, how about ladies first? I think it should be LaNatra, Cutler and Muratore.
Muratore: Hey, wait a minute! Why is a Republican always last. Muratore, Cutler and LaNatra sounds much better.
