Republican State Committee 85 Merrimack Street, Suite 505
Boston, MA 02114
To the Honorable Members of the Republican State Committee,
Election Day has become Groundhog Day for Republicans in Massachusetts. Every cycle I talk to Republicans running for office, and every cycle I hear the same stories. Great candidates with promising campaigns wake up to the unfortunate reality that they will not be representing their districts. Despite the growing resentment Massachusetts voters have for Democrat policies, the Republican Party has failed to capitalize.
For the past 40 years, we’ve waited for a Red Wave to hit our state, but the only thing we wake up to are dismal election results. Over and over again.
In the 2024 election cycle the MassGOP spent approximately $2 million dollars and what did we get in return?
- We failed to recruit U.S. House candidates in 7 out of 9 races
- We had a record low 52 State House Candidates (compared to an average of 63 candidates between the years 2016 – 2022)
- We lost a total of 10 State House races by less than 2,700
- We lost two solidly Republican State House seats in the 1st & 8th Plymouth districts
- We gained net zero seats in the State House (25 before, 25 after)
- We saw the number of unique donors decrease by an alarming 65%.
- We not only lost the U.S. Senate and the presidential race decisively, but the Trump campaign invested zero time and events in Massachusetts
This is not the portrait of a political party. Forget, for the moment about being a winning political party. To win, you have to get on the field. And in too many races, we’ve simply yielded to the Democrats.
But amidst this dark portrait, there is good news.
While most Republicans in Massachusetts were mourning the statewide results, there was one district where something special happened—5th Bristol. For the last 40 years, the GOP Establishment failed to win against a Democrat incumbent (funny how that works). But two veterans came along and built a grassroots army.
In just two short years–with a bootstrap budget–I was able to do what the Mass GOP has failed to do over the last 40 years with millions in spending–flip an incumbent Democrat seat.
I believe I can achieve these results for the State Party. That is why I am officially announcing my candidacy for the Massachusetts GOP Chair.
I’ve lived and worked in Massachusetts my entire life, living in all different areas of the state (literally all of them) including Cape Cod, Boston, the North Shore, Springfield and Worcester.
I have humble beginnings, taking classes at Bunker Hill Community College and ultimately working my way to earning an MBA at Boston University.
I served in the United States Air Force and was ranked one of the top 5 professional MMA fighters in New England. I’ve spent my entire professional career in the private sector working with start-up tech companies.
Something I haven’t done is to be a career consultant, lobbyist, politician, or belonged to any special interest group.
I currently reside in Central MA with my wife and daughter. I want to make this state safe and prosperous for them. I believe doing that requires a vibrant Republican Party.
Over the past several years I’ve had the pleasure of working with Republican candidates and activists from all different backgrounds and offices. I’ve done everything from enrolling first-time voters with the party, to recruiting candidates, to helping those candidates win. There is no task too small, yet no task too large to overcome.
I’ve worked with other grassroots organizations to capitalize on issues that the Mass GOP has ignored. Earlier this year I helped organize the Close The Border Rally, which attracted up to 3,000 Republican activists from across the state.
I’ve been labeled “too close” to some activists, while others have labeled me “not close enough” to the very same people. Neither myself nor any of the candidates I’ve worked with have been involved with the lawsuits facing the MassGOP. I believe that in order to be successful we all need to work together, and I am open to working with anyone that adds value and operates in good faith.
My goals over the next election cycle are to recruit the most candidates in MassGOP history, build a training and education platform for new candidates (MassGOP version of Leadership Institute), and blow the wheels off the Democrat Party by winning more races than they’ve ever seen.
I am humbly asking for your vote on January 11th so that on November 4th 2026 we don’t wake up to the same meager election results in Massachusetts that we woke up to on November 6th, 2024.
Sincerely,
Jimmy Davidson
Thanks for running Jim. Good luck!
