Gov. Tim Walz: Enemy of Democracy

By Grace Vuoto

Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. They cannot now credibly claim that Republican nominee Donald Trump is the “enemy of democracy,” and that this duo will save the republic. For, Walz has shown repeatedly that he tramples on the Constitution effortlessly. His record reveals he does not respect individual or property rights—the bedrock of American liberty.

“You do not want tyranny at this level,” warns business owner Lisa Hanson in an extensive Fox News Digital interview.

Hanson was the victim of Walz’s lockdown orders during the pandemic. She was convicted, fined and jailed for 60 days when she defied his orders and opened her bistro. She now warns he is not the “nice guy” the mainstream is presenting but a vindictive, merciless “bully.”

“This man would like to take your rights away. He will take your rights away. Because what happened to me could have happened to anybody. What happened to me will happen to you,” said Hanson. She was embroiled in extensive litigation to uphold her rights and eventually lost her business.

During the pandemic, which began in March 2020, Walz was among the most zealous governors in the nation in implementing restrictive policies. He enforced social distancing rules and created a hotline for citizens to report those failing to abide by them. Fines and jail time were used against entrepreneurs who did not wish to close their businesses. He embraced masking policies to an absurd degree: diners in restaurants had to wear masks when moving around and yet could remove them while eating and drinking. His lockdown orders even targeted outdoor eating venues.

His restrictive orders lasted until May 2021, forcing many businesses into bankruptcy.

“I think he’s an evil man who overstepped his role as the governor. He took small businesses and ripped them up. He destroyed us,” said Lisa Zarza, a bar owner who declared bankruptcy due to the lockdowns and the litigation that followed. She eventually started a new business in Wisconsin and travels two hours daily to get there.

Walz caved to every pandemic fashion at the expense of the rights of the residents of his state.

Nor is he vigilant of public funds. According to an Aug. 8 report in The Washington Times, fraudsters stole $250 million dollars in pandemic relief money meant to feed children. The governor’s office states that dozens were charged in the scandal. Nonetheless Walz did not fire anyone in the state Education Department, the branch that ran the program.

It is ironic that, side-by-side, Harris and Walz proclaim they are fighting for “freedom.” Yet, when it was tough to uphold freedom, Walz withered and surrendered our Constitution. Many of the victims of his weakness turned out to be female business owners, further exposing the lie that this ticket favors the advancement of women’s rights. This was certainly not the case for the female business owners who defied their government to save their livelihood. For them, Walz had no sympathy.

His stewardship during the pandemic mirrors the weakness he showed during the 2020 George Floyd riots, when he allowed rioters to burn Minneapolis for days rather than stopping the looting and mayhem that accompanied the protests. There again, he failed to protect the basic rights of innocent business owners and property owners.

Perhaps it is no wonder, too, that Walz abandoned his unit in 2005, after serving 24 years in the Army National Guard, just before it was deployed to combat in Iraq. Ultimately, he does not believe in the cardinal values of this country—certainly not enough to fulfill his military obligation, nor enough to uphold his oath as governor to protect the rights of individuals.

For Walz, freedom is a moving target, not a sacrosanct principle. This haughty approach to our God-given rights enshrined in our golden Constitution is the real threat to our democracy—not the phantom danger Democrats are manufacturing regarding Trump.

The selection of Walz as a running mate signals that Harris is just as cavalier as he is and will crush any American liberty the left deems inconvenient. Beware: if elected, the tyrant of Minnesota is coming to your hometown.
